Stephanie Conway worked in advertising and marketing for organizations representing brands like Samsung, Audi, and T-Mobile for years. On the surface, this #girlboss had it all: monetary balance, an enviable Instagram feed, and glamorous birthday celebration invitations. But subsequently, the sleepless nights stuck up along with her, and she was burned out. So, at the age of 28, she ended her strong career and decided to switch her table for a beach and her tea-drinking coworkers for barefoot cohorts.
This digital nomad uses Bali as a domestic base and tours around Southeast Asia with an Instagram feed that shouts #travelgoals. She has created a virtual assistant studio called Symphony VA, assisting corporations and marketers to benefit from treasured time using outsourcing advertising and administration obligations. The intention? “So they could get again to doing what they do nice,” says Conway, who is doing the same along with her life. Here, Conway tells how she ended the nine-to-five and reinvented her profession and existence.
Criss-Crossing the Pond:
I grew up in the U.K., and then, at 18, I was given a generic degree at a university in Los Angeles. After commencement, I loved the climate and lifestyle to solidify an advertising and activity professionals emblem. I spent numerous years working in L.A. And residing in a pleasant existence. But a demise inside the family brought me back to the U.K. I managed to relax in an advertising and marketing job within the first week of coming home, but after residing in steady sunshine, the British winter climate slowed me down. I awoke in the darkness to visit paintings, then came home because the sun was setting. I felt like a vampire.
Why Not Me? Through my process, I labored on campaigns with top influencers, securing emblem partnership offers and helping them make a ton of cash to travel and be splendid. I was constantly looking at social feeds filled with beautiful virtual nomads dwelling their satisfactory lives on seashores simultaneously as I became stuck in a workplace with unflattering fluorescent lights, losing away. I constantly think, “Why can’t I be where they are?”
Daydreams:
Whenever I had an awful day at work, I fantasized about starting in Bali. Eventually, living in steady darkness pushed me over the brink. So, I started to learn how to translate my advertising skillset into running freelance for small groups and entrepreneurs. This might permit me to live a computer lifestyle and journey everywhere I favored.
Taking the Plunge:
I knew that humans might strive to speak me out of it, so I failed to tell each person I’d cease until I booked my one-way price ticket to Bali. From the outside, searching in, I was convinced that my actions would appear crazy and irrational. I became the most anxious to tell my mum, but she’d witnessed the burnout and knew I wasn’t glad.
My Motivation:
I moved to Asia due to the fact I desired to be unfastened. I desired to wake up every day in the sunshine. I desired to stay alive with a new, supportive pal from everywhere. I desired to swim inside the ocean, attempt to surf, and dive deeper with my life factors. When you let pass of societal barriers, there may be extra room for you to be who you are intended to be.
My Travels:
Since setting up my organization, I have traveled to exceptional countries in Southeast Asia. My personal favorite is the Indonesian archipelago, which offers pristine seashores and easy access to sparkling coconuts. Plus, the low cost of living has allowed me the time and space to develop my employer authentically and organically.
